Instructions
- To apply for an Industrial licence/Registration certificate, the below mentioned conditions must be fully fulfilled in line with the Industrial Development Act, 2019, and Industrial Development Regulations, 2020.
- An Industrial licence/Registration certificate is valid for an indefinite period subject to compliance with the conditions upon which it is issued.
- Application for Small, Micro and Medium Enterprises is processed by the Local Authorities throughout the country whilst applications for large enterprises (annual turnover of over P5million) is processed by the Department of Industrial Affairs in Gaborone.
- Requirements to obtain new Industrial Licence:
- Completed Form AIL (1) (for each company).
- Copy of Certificate of Incorporation for the company including information on shareholding from CIPA.
- A detailed description of the production process to indicate how each product will be produced, as requested on the “Additional Information” Sheet.
- Proof of ownership of premises OR lease agreement between the Lessor and the Lessee or letter from the landlord showing his/her intention to lease.
- Proof of availability of business premises (letter of intention to lease/lease agreement or Title Deed).
- Copies of identity documents for both foreign and citizen shareholders.
- A licence fee of P500.00 is applicable.
- Provide clearance/recommendation/waiver or authorisation letter from;
- Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) from Department of Environmental Affairs in the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, Conservation.
- Environmental Health (from Local Authorities; ‘Council’), stamped.
- Physical Planning Office, confirming the zoning of the place of operation.
- Environmental & Occupational Health Division (Ministry of Health & Wellness) for Chemicals.
- Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security for animal and plant related products and animal Feeds.
- Nutrition and Food Control Division (Ministry of Health & Wellness’) for manufacturing foods or anything for human consumption).
- Requirements to obtain new registration certificate:
- Completed Form IRC 2 (for each company).
- A detailed description of the production process to indicate how each product will be produced, as requested on the “Additional Information” Sheet.(Click here to download 'Additional Information' sheet)
- Copy of Certificate of Incorporation for the company including information on shareholding from CIPA.
- Copies of identity documents for both foreign and citizen shareholders.
- A certificate fee of P500.00 is applicable.
- Click apply below and then select the type of establishment. Based on the type of establishment selected, the appropriate application form (New Industrial Licence or new Registration Certificate form) will be displayed.
- If you are unsure of the type of establishment or if type of establishment is not listed, please speak to a DIA representative between 07:30 hrs - 12:45 hrs using the below contact numbers for assistance: 3601200/202

- This form is to capture your existing Industrial Licence/Registration Certificate details into the system which will then allow you to submit applications for other services (E.g.: Annual Fee payment etc.).
- The following documents must be submitted:
- Copy of the Industrial Licence/Registration Certificate.
- All Licences are valid for an indefinite period.
- Only 25% of the licence fee is required every year as Annual Licence Fee.
- Click apply below and then select the type of establishment. Based on the type of establishment selected, the appropriate application form (Industrial Licence or Registration Certificate form) will be displayed.

- Notice of intention to transfer trade licence/business registration certificate.
- Certified copy of omang/passports for directors and shareholders.
- Satisfactory Health inspection report.
- Lease agreement
- Non-refundable application fee of P200
- Transfer fee of P500 upon approval.

- The following documents must be submitted:
- Latest Balance Sheet and Income Statement.

- Copy of certificate of Incorporation of Transferee including information on shareholding from CIPA.
- Payment of P500.00 towards Licence fee is applicable.
- If Case of transferring Industrial Licence, Completion of Form AIL 7 (APPLICATION TO TRANSFER AN INDUSTRIAL LICENCE) by transferor and Completion of Form AIL 1 (APPLICATION FOR INDUSTRIAL LICENCE) by transferee.
- If Case of transferring registration certificate, Completion of Form IRC 4 (APPLICATION FOR TRANSFER OF REGISTRATION CERTIFICATE) by transferor and Completion of Form IRC 2 (APPLICATION FOR REGISTRATION CERTIFICATE) by transferee.
- In Case Transfer involves moving to different premises, then:
- Proof of ownership of premises OR lease agreement between the Lessor and the Lessee or letter from the landlord showing his/her intention.
- Provide clearance/recommendation or authorisation letter from;
- Environmental Impact Assessment from Department of Environmental Affairs in the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, Conservation.
- Environmental Health (from Local Authorities; ‘Council’), stamped
- Physical Planning Office, confirming the zoning of the place of operation.
